There is a plot of land in the Argentine district of Kansas City where their once lived a one-eyed Shawnee prophet named Tenskwatawa. On the land is White Feather Springs. This purse honors his commitment to his land, people, and the mysticism of the world. The stitching represents the interconnection of human souls, the fringe of the flowing water of the spring, and the earthy tones being the land.

Mojave Sundown is the brainchild of artists Johnny Hendry and Tawnee McKinney. In 1998 when they first met, the two artists began creating leather handbags and accessories from the finest leather; the bags are made using handed-down knowledge from their Native American ancestry. As their company and family continued to grow they traveled around the county where they exhibited their works and honed their unique style. From living in a VW Van to Las Vagas and now New York, Mojave Sundown brings together craftsmanship, family, and history formed into their 100% handmade, No electricity, No machines, just hand-crafted work to create their signature pieces.

Their signature stitching is all done by their hands, and no machine can reproduce or replicate it. The two founders of Mojave Sundown Johnny and Tawnee live in New york with their two daughters. Johnny was born in Lawrence, Kansas. He grew up on a farm with horses living the country life. He is happiest hiking in the desert, absorbing the wonders of the world which translates into his art. He is a proud member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma and is also a part of the Muskogee Creek tribe. Tawnee was born in Pasadena, California. She grew up in a 4 sided glass pyramid house in neighboring Sierra Madre. She is happiest surrounded by her family on their daily adventures. She is a member of the Choctaw tribe of Oklahoma and is also part of the Absentee Shawnee tribe.
